Awaji Musubi (Knot) was invented relatively recently and the style of Awaji differs in different regions.

The name Awaji came from the Japanese word Awabi (meaning "abalone") since the shape of the knot resembles that of the beautiful shell.

Similar to Musubikiri, the Awaji Musubi is hard to untie. Pulling the two ends will only tighten the knot even more! For this reason, it's often used as a symbol for "tight connection" and "forever close-relationship". Because it can only be created once, this knot is also used for events that are wished to happen just once - such as weddings and funerals.

How to use:

The Awaji Musubi are ideal as gift wrapping accessories or attached to handmade cards, party and wedding invitations, etc.

You can use any type of adhesive to attach it to the surface (craft glue, double-sided tape, glue dot, or glue gun, etc). Alternatively, you can thread a thin elastic (similar to those used in jewelry crafts) through the Mizuhiki ornament to then affix the ornament onto the gift package.

It can also be used to create unique hair clips or brooch pins by simply gluing the Mizuhiki Musubi on the accessory base.
